- Template Files
- Gone are the [ini] files of PipeDream 3 but, instead, and much better
- are PipeDream 4's Template files. Template files are saved with
- <Ctrl FI> and are stored in a sub directory of the !PipeDream directory
- unsurprisingly called [Templates].
-
- Saving a Template File
- In this directory you will find the file [AtoF]. If you have the full
- version of PipeDream 4 but not if you have only the PipeDream 4 demo
- disc then you can save it as a Template file. Double click on [AtoF]
- to load it to the screen. Give the command <Ctrl FI> and check the
- file name is [AtoF] in the dialogue box before tapping <Return>. Close
- the file [AtoF].
-
- If you do not have PipeDream 4 but only the demo disc then you can use
- the adfs commands to copy the file [AtoF] into your PipeDream 4
- Templates directory. Hold down the <Shift> key and double click on
- !PipeDream. Inside the !PipeDream directory you will find a directory
- called Templates. Use the mouse to drag [AtoF] into that directory.
-
- Loading a Template File
- Template files are loaded from the PipeDream icon New document menu.
-
- Place the pointer over the PipeDream 4 icon, the one installed on the
- icon bar, and tap the mouse menu (middle) button. Run the pointer
- through the New document option and you will see a dialogue box with up
- and down radio buttons. Click select on the up or down buttons until
- AtoF appears in the dialogue box window. Click on the OK box and the
- template will be loaded.
-
- Deleting Template Files
- Template files can be deleted only by opening the !PipeDream.Template
- directory and using the adfs filing system Delete command. This is
- best executed with the mouse.
-
- What Next
- You can create a pro forma for a letter complete with letter heading,
- 'todays date' and lookup() functions (which interrogate an address
- file) and then save the letter as a template file. All the information
- in the file, including the text and lookup() functions contained in
- letter, can be saved as part of the template. An example of this
- technique is included in the directory BusLetter. I suggest that you
- look at that the contents of that directory next.
